Hello! My name is Janet Thompson.

I will be your child's ELAR teacher this year. I love connecting Reading, and Writing. My goal is to create life long readers and writers. We have a lot of exciting things going on this year. We are a Leader in Me school. This is based on Steven Covey's Seven Habits of Highly Effective People.  We will be learning how to be proactive, begin with the end in mind, putting first things first, thinking win-win, seeking first to understand, then be understood, and synergizing.

I will be beginning my 26th year of teaching this year. I have been at Navarro for 17 years. Wow, does time fly when you are having fun! I have taught in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade. I graduated from Southwest Texas (now Texas State) University in San Marcos, Tx, where I met my husband. I have a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics specializing in Family and Child Development. I also attended UTSA, where I received my teaching certification. My husband was a Jr. High School teacher and Coach at Navarro. We have two daughters.  They attended Navarro from K-12th grade.  Our oldest daughter graduated from Navarro in 2015 and is now attending Angelo State University where she is in grad school. Our youngest daughter graduated in 2017 and is attending TAMUCC in Corpus Christi. Both girls enjoyed many different clubs, sports, and activities while at Navarro.  As you can tell, my family really values the education at NISD.

Please let me know if you ever have any questions.
